WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOUR ROAD IS BEING PRESERVED
When your local government chooses Corrective Asphalt Materials to preserve your roads, they’re making a smart choice for your community. We specialize in extending road life with treatments that delay more costly and disruptive repairs like complete resurfacing. Our work helps prevent weathering and surface deterioration, saving your local government money and helping keep taxes lower.
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH RECLAMITE TREATMENT
For roads in good condition or newly paved.
Day 1: Application Day
What we do:
- Apply Reclamite, which has a pink color, by spraying it on the road
- Apply a fine aggregate sand to the surface within 20-30 minutes after spraying
What you’ll notice:
- The freshly treated road will look wet
- The sand helps absorb excess product and isn’t meant to stick to the surface
- You can drive on the road once the sand is applied
- The sand makes the road safe to drive on while the product cures
Important tips:
- Turn off your sprinkler systems for 24 hours
- Keep pets off the wet surface to avoid getting oil in their coats
- Drive slowly through the sanded area
- Don’t worry about our sand – it won’t damage vehicles or property
- Any light residue that tracks onto your driveway will disappear within 1-2 weeks and won’t permanently stain concrete
Days 2-3: Clean-Up
What we do:
- Sweep up and remove up to 90% of the sand
What you’ll notice:
- Road will still have a wet look and uneven color
- The road may feel slightly tacky for up to 5 days
Months 1-4: Settling Period
What you’ll notice:
- Road will still have a wet look and uneven color
- The road may feel slightly tacky for up to 5 days
After 1 Year: Long-Term Results
What you’ll notice:
- Treated areas remain smooth with a consistent surface color
- You’ll see a clear difference – untreated areas will show visible deterioration like cracks, pitting and crumbling
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH CRF TREATMENT
For roads that are somewhat aged.
Day 1: Application Day
What we do:
- Apply CRF, which is a black emulsion, by spraying
- Let the treatment cure for about 30 minutes
- Apply a heavy coat of lime screenings (sand) to completely cover the surface
What you’ll notice:
- The lime sand absorbs excess product and helps the emulsion cure
- Most of the sand won’t permanently stick to the surface
- You can drive on the road once the lime sand is applied
Important tips:
- Turn off sprinkler systems
- Keep pets off the wet surface
- The lime sand won’t damage vehicles or property
- There may be light dust, especially on high-volume roads
- If emulsion gets on your car, it won’t damage paint or clear coat – remove it with WD-40 or bug remover
Days 3-14: Clean-Up Period
What we do:
- Sweep up and remove about 90% of the lime sand after 3-5 days
- Sand may remain up to 2 weeks in cul-de-sacs
- Check that the road is curing properly after 1-2 weeks
What you’ll notice:
- The road may feel slightly tacky after sand removal
- Some areas may look darker than others
- CRF won’t track onto your driveway unless you drive through it before sanding
- You may see light scuffing (from vehicle turning) in front of driveways and in cul-de-sacs
- You might notice some loose lime sand or aggregate
Months 1-4: Settling Period
What you’ll notice:
- The road surface will have an uneven color
- This will fade to a smooth, light gray finish within 4-6 months
- Expect light scuffing in front of driveways for 1-2 months
- Cul-de-sacs may have heavier scuffing for up to 2 months
- All scuffing will fade to a smooth, gray surface within 6 months
After 1 Year: Long-Term Results
What you’ll notice:
- Treated areas remain smooth with a consistent surface
- Untreated areas will show visible deterioration
- All scuffing will have completely disappeared
